I currently teach a CTE- "Principals in Technology" course in Houston, Texas. This will make my 33rd year in education. Technology, as everyone should recognize, is constantly changing. I strive to make every lesson in my classes, present and past, as interactive as possible. "To do is to learn" is basically my philosophy. With every place of employment, whether be in education or not, I have always asked myself, "How can I make myself more valuable to my employer?" I hope that this website displays that commitment.
This website is constantly changing as I use it as one of my main tools to communicate with my students, and I post many of my assignments here. Feel free to explore those assignments.
From 2005 to 2016, I had an iMac lab with 32 CPU's and a server. I still taught the CTE course- "Principals in Technology" to 8th graders for a high school credit.
The 2nd subject I taught was "Media Technology" for all grade levels, 6-8. In this class, we explored different ways of delivering media to external sources. Whatever media we used- sound, animation, photos, video- I taught the students how to videotape, download, edit the media, and delivery it to an audience. Projects consisted using these software packages- Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Garageband, iPhoto, Comic Life, Kidspix 3D and others. Our finished product was a DVD where the students took this DVD home. I had students who would visit me years later telling me that they still have the DVD!
One of the most popular features generated out of my classroom were our "Morning Announcements". This "show", every morning, delivered school announcements. We presented video and pictures from all the events happening ranging from sports, extracurricular activities, 'teacher feature', and students. We had a full classroom TV studio. My students came in around 7:00 AM everyday to set up cameras, lights, and computers. We recorded the announcements around 7:20. We moved the recording over to Final Cut Pro software where we added the remaining touches, and rebroadcasted the show at 8:00. My students ran almost every aspect of the show. It was a lot of fun and a big hit with the teachers and student body.
Below are some pictures of how my classroom studio was set up with students. Click on them to enlarge.
The rest of this page displays examples of my work.
With our morning announcements, we had a weekly feature we called "Teacher Feature". It featured different teachers throughout our building. Students had a great time trying to be the first one to guess who the teacher was.
Our Magnet department needed a 15 second promotion video that represented our Magnet program. Here is what I came up with in about an hour!
My opening credit! About 5 seconds! Try to use this intro on my videos.
A few pictures of me at work.
Having fun! The true me...
I returned to school at MyComputerCareer.com in 2013 to learn more about technology. I worked very hard to earn these certifications.
